What a great month!

Have had a fantasitic month.
At the beginning I managed to get the last place on a Debbie Abrahams Bead workshop at the Sheepish wool shop York. Had a great time learning how to use beads and saw all the samples form Debbies new book.

The weather played its usual tricks. Started off in rain, then thick snow and eventually sunshine.

Just to prove it:

On the way there - brrrr

On the way back

Heres the sample I made:

Pretty

I must admit to pulling back the sample and using the beads to make a mobile phone cover, waste not want not. I will post pics next time.

WONDERWOOL WALES

Last Saturday I managed to get to Wonderwool Wales with some good friends. It was great to meet lots of fibre enthusiasts.

And I am so excited - I bought my first spinning wheel!!!!

She is an Ashford Elizabeth 1, so I am calling her Bess. She is beautiful and really silent when spinning. Have to say this is a totally new adventure for me. At the momment I am getting used to using my feet to pedle and working out how to get my hands to control the fibre. But I will purservere. At the momment I am making very wiggly worms!!
Just had to buy some goodies to practise with:

Baby Surprise Jacket

Bet you thought I had fell off the planet ? No - my internet access has been unfriendly and I have also been house hunting. Have looked at loads of houses, had an offer declined - so I have decided to wait for a couple of months. Boy does it take a lot of energy and brain power , so I haven't been doing a lot of new knitting but I have managed to finish a few things.

Finally sewed up my Baby ( or I should say toddler) Surprise Jacket and must say I love it and think it looks great.

And finally - finished one pair of socks using Lana Grossa yarn - yummy

Elizabeth Zimmerman - fan club

I thought I had better give an update- just incase you thought I had run away!

I just love EZ- she was soooo cleaver.

I have finished the baby surprize jacket - it just needs sewing up. I know there are only two tiny seams, but I am lazy and can't be bothered at the moment.

It was great fun to do, easy and quick. What more is ther to say?

Here it is ready for folding.

I will definately be doing more.

I have also cast on the PI shawl, upto 288 stitches

Am having loads of fun.

Happy knitting:)

I've been Gekko'd

It's been a while since I last posted, I have been going throug a bit of an off spell. Every time i've cast on or got down to knitting - it's gone wrong. For some reason i've just not been able to concentrate.
I have managed to finish the Gekko socks for mum - but they did go wrong. The first sock - fine, the second I somehow managed to totally do the heel wrong and then go on to skew the toe!!! Couldn't do it again if I tried.

Here they are, fixed:

Must admit to not enjoy knitting Opal yarn, it feels hard to me. They were for mum so at least I don't have to wear them.
Anyway I have realised that I have been knitting with bland / dark colours (kind of matching my mood at the time) and that this has not helped my cause. So I have put all other projects aside, even the Secret of the Stole ii and have cast on two new brighter items. Both are by the fabulous Elizabeth Zimmerman (EZ).

  • A Baby Surprise Jacket
  • A Pi Shawl, which has been on my wish list for ages. I am going to use the yarn below because it is just shouting "use me, use me".

Happy knitting !

Secret of the Stole ii - Hint 1 finished

I managed to finsh hint 1 of the KAL at 11pm tonight, just in time for the new hint tommorow.

This is only my second lace KAL, I never managed to keep up with the Mystery Shawl 3 - so I am really pleased.

I am using Lane Borgosesia Cashwool in Nutmeg with size 3.75 addi lace needles.
The yarn is sooo nice to work with and even though it is very fine, it feels like it will be warm.

Monogamous - Who me ?

A disc decided to slip in my back last week, so I am house-bound at the moment. You would think that I would beable to do loads of knitting - but noooo. Every time I get comfy and try to knit I need to move again.

Never mind it is on the mend and it has given me lots of time to catch up with my podcasts and to drool over pictures of other peoples knitting.

I've come to the conclusion that I am not a one project girl, I need choice. So instead of doing just one big project i've chosen a few slighlty less ambitious ones.

Here's the line up:

1. Gecko socks - up to the heel on the second one.

2. Iris - from Rowan magazine 35 in Calmer

3. Secret of the Stole II

4. Lana Grossa Meetings socks in pink colour way

Never let it be said that I might be bored.

I have orderd a new camera, that should come in the next few days so I should beable to post pictures again yipeeeee.

Stash Count

Happy New Year

Have been full of a nasty virus, not even felt like knitting much.

So I did the next best thing and counted all my sock yarn last night - a dirty job, but somebody had to do it!

31 balls of yarn

Am sure i didn't but all that - does sock yarn breed?

To start the new year off right I've joined Knit From Your Stash 2008

My goal is to knit up ALL the yarn in my stash, alternating a plain knit with a pattern knit.

Wish me luck
